The writing community in Penang is active and vibrant, with writers meeting regularly for write-ins, critiques, readings, workshops, and book-selling events. Face-to-face activities are currently paused but will resume once allowed. In the meantime, the group meets for critiques on Discord on the last Saturday of every month at 8 pm. You can also join the MYWritersPenang Facebook Group to stay updated with what’s happening in the writing scene in Penang.
MYWriters Penang publishes an annual zine known as NutMag and runs their own monthly newsletter.
The writing community in Kuala Lumpur is part of the local literary ecosystem. Before the pandemic, Executive Committee Officers would regularly host write-ins at NuSentral, and MWS members were regular attendees of the SEKSAN Galley Readings hosted by Sharon Bakar. The bulk of MYWritersFest events also took place across the region.
