The Malaysian Writers Society (MWS) is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone attending MWS events, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices.
All attendees, including speakers, volunteers, and staff, are subject to the anti-harassment policy.
We do not tolerate harassment of MWS event attendees in any form, verbal, physical, or otherwise. Attendees violating these rules may be expelled from MWS events without a refund at the discretion of the organisers.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
Any individual who is asked to stop any harassing behaviour is expected to comply immediately. If the individual in question continues to engage in harassing behaviour, the organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including and up to expulsion from the event with no refund. MWS may ban the individual from attending future events, whether virtual and physical. Staff and volunteers will be apprised of this ban and are expected to comply; any attempt to allow the individual past the ban will result in the staff / volunteer being held responsible for endangering attendees.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, email us at membercare@malaysianwriterssociety.org with the word “SAFETY” in the subject line. We will log the details of the offending behaviour that you provide, and determine further action from there.
